Harwell woods at dinnertime.
Dinnertime walk in Harwell woods brought the usual sighting, plenty of Butterflies including a nice shot of a Brimstone in flight and a very obliging juvenile Green Woodpecker.
Farmoor 22/7/14
A trip to Farmoor in the sun was a nice change from Otmoor, which is where i find myself spending most of my time. I started out up the Causeway with Common Terns and Black Headed Gulls.
Beyond the end of the causeway i travelled over and down the far bank and walked along the Thames and around Shrike meadow to look for Common Redstart, with no luck. Linnet, Greenfinch, Green woodpecker, Chiffchaff and all the usual Corvids were seen.
I then ventured back up onto the Reservoir and around F1, the smaller of the two bowls. More gulls, including Black headed, Herring and Lesser black backed were seen.
Further around F1 a group of 20-25 Black Tailed Godwits, a female Wheatear, and Little Egret were seen.
Other sightings around the reservoir included Grey Wagtail, Pied Wagtail, Greenfinch, Redshank and House sparrow.
Next trip out is to Cholsey Hill
